Project Description

DAVENPORT is currently providing transportation planning and design for the Progress Park Connector Road in Wythe County, VA. The proposed two mile roadway will connect I-77 at Peppers Ferry Road to an existing intersection of E. Lee Trickle Road and Gator Lane. The progress park project scope required land use, transportation planning as well as roadway design of the proposed route to the existing Progress Park industrial development. The original project included three alternate routes from I-77 exit 41 in the Town of Wytheville east toward the park in Wythe County, Virginia. Based on DAVENPORT’s land and transportation planning, the proposed build-out would generate more traffic than the proposed routes could accommodate, without extensive roadway improvements. DAVENPORT’s team developed two additional alternate routes. Each alternative is being evaluated for positive and negative effects on undeveloped land, level of service, environmental issues, impact to existing roadways, cost, and schedule.
