OurHistory
Founded in 2002, DAVENPORT is a leading engineering, design, and consulting firm focused on providing transportation and specialty services to clients throughout the Southeast.
Inspired to evolve his career as a Traffic Engineer Consultant, and armed with the mindset to do more for the world around him, CEO John Davenport, Jr. started DAVENPORT from his home with great faith and the trust he could build an organization that would not only serve clients, but also build leaders with a passion for helping others.
As the first in his family to graduate from both high school and college, John was determined to grow his consulting services and, by 2003 DAVENPORT had amassed a backlog of clients and a need for expansive employee growth.
From that time, a culture developed at DAVENPORT to do whatever it takes to serve our clients through the principals of walking by faith and trust. At the core of this mindset, is John’s deep belief that it’s important to be part of other people’s success and give people opportunities to thrive in all areas of their lives.
At DAVENPORT this belief spans both the commitment to our employees, as well as through the ministry volunteer work we provide to the communities in which we work and serve.
DAVENPORT has continued to grow and evolve our services to benefit our clients, while maintaining our transportation focus. As a Minority-Owned Business, DAVENPORT now operates 6 offices across the Southeast. We are a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, and Minority Business Enterprise and part of a number of associations including the American Council of Engineering Companies and International Council of Shopping Centers.
