Traffic Engineering Project Manager

  • 7-10 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering.
  • Experience in conducting traffic analyses (TIA’s) to NCDOT standards
  • Experience in negotiating with both private and public sector clients.
  • NCDOT experience required along with a proven ability to communicate effectively with DOT, municipal and county DOT officials effectively. VDOT or SCDOT experience a plus
  • Experience with public involvement outreach along with assisting in business development
  • PE Required.
  • The ideal candidate is an individual who is highly proactive and creative. Needs to understand traffic operations and have excellent technical writing skills. Must be highly proficient in the traffic analysis and assessment discipline along with an understanding and capability with traffic design tasks including signal design, signage and pavement marking design.
  • Candidate needs to be proficient in all major Traffic engineering related software as well as AutoCAD software proficient. GeoPak and MicroStation experience is a plus.
  • Primary service area will be the Triangle Region as well as other statewide project work. Some travel required < 15% (site visits and meetings primarily)

  • EI Required; PE a plus
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Roadway Design and plan production.
  • NCDOT experience preferred along with a proven ability to communicate effectively with DOT, municipal and county DOT officials effectively. VDOT or SCDOT experience a plus.
  • Experience with NCDOT standards
  • The ideal candidate is an individual who is highly proactive and creative. Needs to have a complete understanding of design and plan production for roadway projects.
  • Candidate needs to be proficient in MicroStation software.

    Environmental Scientist

    DAVENPORT is seeking to fill an Environmental Scientist Position that will be assigned to our Wilmington, NC office. This is an entry-level position that will require the organization and performance of various types of environmental investigations. This position requires professional verbal and written communication skills; the ability to make informed and professional judgments, the ability to perform field investigations and prepare technical reports, as necessary. Applicants must have a 4 year degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or other related environmental field. Knowledge of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Division of Waste Management Guidelines and regulations as well as assist in the preparation of technical reports is preferred. In addition, experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation is a plus.

     

    Typical Duties:

  • Prepare technical reports per NCDEQ guidelines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance for project activities, ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to perform soil and groundwater sampling to evaluate site conditions.
  • Preparation of permit applications.
  • Maintain client satisfaction/confidentiality.
  • GIS and/or CAD mapping, preferred.
  • Preparation of environmental documents and studies in compliance with NEPA guidelines for both state and federal agencies. Experience with the North Carolina Department of Transportation Planning and Environmental Branch is preferred.
  • Some travel required including regular visits on job sites.
  • OSHA 40hr Hazwoper training will be required.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience with GPS survey equipment is a plus.

    Entry Level Project Engineer

  • 0-2 years transportation engineering experience (traffic engineering or other related experience)
  • BSCE required; Masters is a plus
  • EI required
  • Project engineering tasks including interacting with other staff members, clients and permitting agencies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Candidate needs to be comfortable learning to work with a variety of traffic engineering software packages in the industry (Synchro, HCS, and or others) OR roadway design packages including AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Positions are open in the following offices: Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, Wilmington, Richmond and Charleston.

    DAVENPORT grows its staff yet again and opens a new office in South Carolina!

     

    DAVENPORT is thrilled to announce its addition of transportation engineering experts Christy Staudt, PE and Jeff Ingham, PE, PTOE. Christy will be based out of the firm’s Asheville office and will bring to the firm over 19 years of experience in the field of transportation engineering specializing in bicycle and pedestrian studies. We are excited that her specialized experience in Bicycle and Pedestrian modes adds greater depth for our firm as we continue to provide these services for our clients.

     

    Jeff Ingham, PE, PTOE comes to DAVENPORT with over 22 years of experience in transportation planning and design for clients in both the public and private sectors. Jeff will be heading DAVENPORT’s first office in the State of South Carolina. Located in the Charleston Region, the new office will extend the firm’s footprint and serve our clients in the Southeast at an even greater capacity.

    DAVENPORT grows its staff and opens a new office in Northern Virginia

     

    With the increasing growth and demand of our firm within the commonwealth of Virginia, DAVENPORT commits to opening a new office in Sterling, VA. This new location will now serve a whole new set of clients within the rapidly growing Northern region and even open up the firm’s potential for work within the District. DAVENPORT’s presence will now be more evenly distributed throughout Virginia and will further uphold our commitment to provide local professional expertise on local projects.

     

    The new office will be directed and managed by David Newberger, PE, PTOE. Mr. Newberger brings extensive transportation engineering experience throughout Virginia including traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking, maintenance of traffic, lighting design and ITS. Mr. Newberger’s past experience includes serving as traffic engineering design lead for the Virginia MegaProjects I-495 and I-95 Express Lanes, and Project/Task Manager for on-call contracts with Arlington and Fairfax Counties.

     

    We are excited to welcome David to the DAVENPORT team and look forward to the many opportunities that this partnership and our expanded footprint will render.
